Glastonbury Organisers Are Planning Some Big David Bowie And Prince Tributes

In the past few months, music has lost not one but two world-famous visionary artists and performers.

In fitting ceremony, the talents of David Bowie and Prince will now be remembered in glorious tribute at Glastonbury 2016.

The BBC reports that the festival, to be held in June, will feature a large-scale metal lightning flash on the Pyramid Stage in tribute, of course, to Bowie’s 1973 album cover for Aladdin Sane.

The Park Stage will also feature a tribute to Bowie’s 1977 album Heroes, while footage from Bowie’s headlining performance at the festival in 2000 will be screened throughout the event.

Prince will be remembered with a far-out light show (possibly featuring a lot of purple), and apparently some wicked parties later on in the evening.

“We’re going to do an incredible light show which will go on for the whole show and beyond, into the night,” Glastonbury co-founder Emily Eavis said. “There’s talk of late-night Prince parties and things.”

No word yet on who will be performing covers of Bowie and Prince at the festival, but there are sure to be a few. Talk about hard acts to follow.

Meanwhile, check out Prince covering David Bowie’s Heroes just weeks before his death, and watch some of Bowie’s 2000 Glastonbury performance below.
