Frank Ocean Eyes July Release For New Album ‘Boys Don’t Cry’

Christopher Edwin Breaux, better known by the more tongue-friendly pseudonym Frank Ocean, has indicated that his long-awaited third studio album will make landfall in just a few short months. According to a post on his website, the follow-up to 2012’s Channel Orange will apparently be called Boys Don’t Cry, and is due to hit shelves this July.

The American singer-songwriter shared a photo on his website, saying, “I got two versions. I got twoooo versions”, alongside a handful of hashtags that seem to spell out the finer details of the release: “#ISSUE1 #ALBUM3 #JULY2015 #BOYSDONTCRY”.

According to reports by Pitchfork, the new record could feature collaborations with a few industry heavy-hitters, including Hit-Boy (Drake, Nicki Minaj), Rodney Jerkins (Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Destiny’s Child), Happy Perez, Charlie Gambetta, and Kevin Ristro.

There are also whispers that the disc could feature a fully-fledged version of Memrise, which was released as a demo via his Tumblr page.

Ocean said last year that he was close to finishing the new LP, and toyed with the idea of skipping his Coachella performance with Outkast “to stay in the groove and finish this bitch”.

Last year also saw Ocean release the track Hero, a collaboration with Diplo and The Clash’s Mick Jones and Paul Simonon, as part of Converse’s Three Artists, One Song series (below).
