The organisers of Sydney New Year’s Day bash Field Day have teased punters looking to score a spot at the 2014 event with a highly entertaining new YouTube video, which readers can check out below. The premise of the video: explain “Why Field Days exists?” told by way of the story of one man’s unfortunate yet typical holiday season.
The organisers have also stated that the video not only contains the event’s announce date but also hides clues as to who will appear on the lineup for Field Day 2014. The video’s monologue is set to the dulcet sounds of Flume‘s remix of the Hermitude track Hyperparadise. It’s not clear whether one or both of these acts will be partying in Sydney come New Year’s Day.
Alison Wonderland gets a cameo towards the end of the clip, looking lovely as ever and strongly hinting at the presence of her formidable deck talent on the Field Day lineup. Zola Jesus are another potential draw, with “Zola” brand juice featured in the clip.
Other clues include London Grammar featured in a poster late in the vid, Julio Bashmore on a poster seen not long after, and TNGHT, who get a subtle clue in the form of the line, “keep the night going.” TNGHT have also toured recently with organisers Fuzzy, as part of the Listen Out lineup.
Grasping at straws, we could also be looking at London psychedelic rockers Toy, who released a single earlier this year, but who did recently tour. The “goat adoption” certificate could be hinting towards US folk rock ensemble The Mountain Goats, who last toured Australia in 2012.
The organisers have announced that the full lineup for Field Day 2014 will drop next week on Wednesday, 9th October, with tickets on sale from announce time.
