Newcastle’s favourite festival, Fat As Butter, has apparently set its 2013 date for Saturday, 19th October after applying for a permit to become a camping festival, hoping to offer punters the chance to set up shop for the weekend in Stockton.
The Newcastle Herald reports that promoters Mothership Music have put in an application to Newcastle City Council to make a temporary 1,500-person campsite to run from 18th-20th October, which would include licensed areas, a fun fair and a spit roast buffet, as well as a free ferry service to get punters to and from the festival. The camping set-up would pull in an estimated $120,000 – $145,000 in extra business for the local community and would be an 18+ only affair.
The Newcastle City Council website shows 19th October, 2013 as the date of the festival.
Although Mothership had promised to reveal date and ticket details for Fat As Butter yesterday, nothing was forthcoming. A post to their Facebook page said the announcement had been delayed:
“We’ve had some news over the past few days that has stalled today’s pre-announce. Sorry FAB-ers but there will be no announcement today. We realise that there will be some ‘feedback’ for this and that’s cool! But Fat As Butter is still happening this year so stay tuned to our Facebook for all upcoming deets!!”
We’re hoping the “news” is the festival waiting for the go-ahead with their camping plans.
