Falls Festival Organisers Kick Off Bushfire Relief Effort With $10,000 Donation

The recent bushfires that are running rampant throughout Tasmania have put the entire country on edge as we look on in horror as entire neighbourhoods, businesses and properties are burnt to the ground. With close ties to both the region and its community, the cats behind Falls Festival have kicked off their own relief fund with a $10,000 donation to the Red Cross.

Those in attendance at the Marion Bay leg of the end of year festival narrowly missed being caught up in the rampant fires, with the event finishing only a few days before. According to a statement released by organisers, event managers were actually evacuated from the site last Thursday due to the risk. Since then the threat has been reduced, but there is still a long road ahead for many who are affected.

The statement continues to add, “[The festival site has become] a temporary refuge for displaced locals, staff members and friends who have not been so fortunate; returning to lost houses, schools, businesses, livestock and precious personal belongings.”

Those interested in donating can click here to do so through the Every Day Hero site dedicated to Falls Festivals effort. Organisers have made a good example by donating $10,000 right off the bat.

“”They’re kicking things off with a $10,000 donation and they hope that you can assist and help to relieve some of the pressures faced by those affected.”
