Dave Grohl’s Sound City Doco To Hit Selected Aussie Cinemas For One Night Only
Written by Mike Hohnen on 23rd January, 2013
Australia will not be missing out on the debut of one of the music industries most prominent events in recent times. Dave Grohl‘s soon-to-be-released feature-length documentary Sound City will hit certain cinemas Down Under, but for one night only.
All Australian mainland states are set to get a screening of the film, which will take place Thursday, January 31.
Sound City will be Grohl’s effort to give back to a studio that has given so much to modern-day music. Along with Grohl himself, the doco is set to feature some of the biggest names in rock, all of whom contributed to the Sound City legend before the introduction of Pro Tools – an invention that marked the demise of many recording studios, with Sound City eventually adding its bones to the pile.
Many of the big names have also been colluding in the studio, as Grohl has also promised a mind-blowing soundtrack with a slew of collaborating artists. The album is expected to drop March 12.
