Dave Grohl’s New Live Band ‘Sound City Players’ To Make Debut In January

Foo Fighter frontman Dave Grohl is almost ready to unveil his directorial documentary debut Sound City. To help promote the doco, Grohl has put together an all-star live band called the Sound City Players.
As reported, Grohl has enlisted a group of core musicians and some special guests from the upcoming film, although no names have currently been revealed. Grohl’s plan is to play concerts alongside the screenings of the documentary with the Sound City Players set to make their live debut on January 18 at Park City Live, Utah.
“After each premiere we could have a show with musicians,” Grohl explained last month to Rolling Stone. “They’d not only play music from the film, but from their catalogs as well. We could do it in a Hammerstein or Roseland and pack the bill with the coolest bands in the world . . . We aren’t far away from this. Pretty soon, everyone will hear what our big plan is. We’ve been planning it for a long f**king time.”
As noted, the doco will have its first public viewing at Sundance 2013 on January 17. Sound City, the movie, will become available to the public on February 1, with the soundtrack to follow on March 12.
