triple J Unearthed music producer Damon Hughes set himself a rather lofty challenge: to host a show of 10 songs in 10 minutes, live on air.
He probably didn’t know he would be taken up on that challenge but, alas, he was.
“The rest of the triple J Unearthered team they doubted me,” Hughes says. “They challenged me, so here we are.”
The rules? Hughes promised to play ten good songs sourced from the triple J Unearthed playlist with all normal radio craft and hosting traditions (i.e. announcing artists and track names) intact.
He promised and he delivered. In a ferocious segment that lasted exactly ten minutes, Hughes served up ten songs – all fully introduced with a bit of banter and interspersed with triple j Unearthed jingles – the shortest of which was 16 seconds in length, the longest lasting just 1 minute and 20 seconds.
You can listen to the whole 10 minutes and view the tracklist below.
The Nuclear Family – I Wanna Be A Dog In The Sun
Fat Guy Wears Mystic Wolf Shirt – Cicada/Grasshopper

Pleasure Beach – Juicebox
Laurence – Orchard
Julia Why? – Painkiller
Bloods – Turn Blue
Bennylava – Taxi
