Courtney Love Says “It’s Time To Make Amends” With Dave Grohl

One of the lasting images of the recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2014 induction ceremony was a warm embrace between the formerly acrimonious Dave Grohl and Courtney Love. Now the Hole singer has announced “it’s time to make amends” with the Foo Fighters leader.

According to the Daily Mail, following the surprisingly turmoil-free reunion with her late husband’s bandmate during Nirvana‘s Rock Hall of Fame induction, Love made the reconciliatory declaration during a recent talk at Cannes Lions 2014 after she was presented with a photo of the rocker.

Grohl discussed the Rock Hall hug with The Hollywood Reporter earlier this month, saying, “I saw Courtney walking past [earlier that night], I just tapped her on the shoulder and we looked at each other in the eyes and that was it — we’re just family. We’ve had a rocky road. We’ve had a bumpy past, but at the end of the day we’re a big family and when we hugged each other it was a real hug.”

Love told Pitchfork back in May that she always intended on reconciling with Grohl at the ceremony: “I was like, ‘All right, no matter what happens, we’re not going to be bitches.’ That was my attitude going in, and obviously his. Not much else needs to be said. We just both knew it was time to let it go, and we were ready to do it. It’s been 20 years – we didn’t even talk at the funeral.”

Love’s statement brings to end one of the most bitter music industry feuds of the last decade, the bad blood first arising in the late ’90s over a dispute regarding Nirvana’s business dealings. Following several court battles between Love and Grohl, the two exchanged barbs in the press and on social media, with each accusing the other of exploiting Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain‘s legacy.
