Coolio Announces Australian Tour, June 2013

One of the last legit O.G.’s still standing, Coolio, has announced announced a run of headlining shows Down Under kicking off at the end of June. The rapper is clearly taken by our little part of the world as the last time he was in town was as recently as Falls Festival last NYE.

For a dude ranked in the highest echelons of hip hop, it was a long way to the top for Coolio, who proved his steel in the local West Coast scene in the ’90s, joining a variety of crews before dropping his chart topping album It Takes A Thief. It was from that point onwards that Coolio became an unstoppable force, with the release featuring the gangbusters track Fantastic Voyage.

No doubt everyone is familiar with the 1995 anthem Gangsta’s Paradise, which hit #1 with a bullet the world over. Since then, we’ve been offered a series of full-length albums from Coolio, who has also tried his hand at acting and reality TV, astoundingly retaining all his street cred while keeping the music as a priority.

Wednesday, 26th June
Republic Bar, Hobart

Thursday, 27th June
Red Bennies, Melbourne

Friday, 28th June

Saturday, 29th June
