Coldplay’s ‘Rush Of Blood…’ Voted Favourite Album Of All Time By BBC Listeners

Giving light to the saying “there’s no accounting for taste”, listeners of Britain’s BBC Radio 2 have voted Coldplay‘s A Rush of Blood to the Head as their all-time favourite album, beating out Keane and Duran Duran for the dubious honour in an on-air countdown yesterday.

The second album from Chris Martin‘s melodic alt-pop quartet topped a list of 100 albums, with Keane’s Hopes and Fears and Duran Duran’s Rio rounding out the top 3. The rest of the list was somewhat salvaged by appearances from The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Queen, although those undisputed gods of guitar music were all beaten out by Dido‘s No Angel at number 5.

Radio 2's head of music Jeff Smith said the range of eras and genres was typical of the breadth of Radio 2 and its distinctive music policy:

“Musicians such as Coldplay and Dido have struck a chord with listeners and are in good company in the Top 10 alongside legendary bands like the Rolling Stones and the Beatles, whose appeal remains undiminished after all these years.”

You can check out the full list of winners at the BBC Radio 2 site.
