Scottish electronic trio Chvrches have confirmed they are in the studio, officially working on a follow up to their acclaimed debut, 2013’s The Bones of What You Believe.
The band confirmed the news via Twitter, posting a handful of studio photos with the caption, “Album two, day one in the studio.” While they haven’t released an album since 2013 it’s hardly been quiet on the Chvrches front this past year.
On top of vast international tours and festival slots, including 2014’s Splendour In The Grass and Laneway Festival, Chvrches have also crafted songs for two film soundtracks. Their track Dead Air features on the Lorde-curated Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 soundtrack and they composed Get Away for BBC Radio 1’s new soundtrack for the 2011 Ryan Gosling film Drive.
Of course, there was also that three-hour Linkin Park spoof video – the culmination of a minor squabble with Linkin Park co-founder Mike Shinoda. Further evidence that it’s going to be another big year for Chvrches is the fact that they are also up for British Breakthrough Act at the 2015 Brit Awards, almost 18 months after the release of their debut album. They’ll face off against FKA twigs, George Ezra, Royal Blood and Sam Smith.
At this stage, nothing else is known about the new record. Stay tuned.
