Taking to Twitter, Talinda Bennington has prefaced the video by telling followers, “My next tweet is the most personal tweet I have ever done. I’m showing this so that you know that depression doesn’t have a face or a mood.”
Upon sharing the video, she wrote, “This is what depression looked like to us just 36 hrs b4 his death. He loved us SO much & we loved him. #fuckdepression #MakeChesterProud”
The clip, which you can watch below, features Chester Bennington sampling some trick jelly beans with his family. After tasting a ‘rotten eggs’-flavoured one, he pretends to be sick, before eventually laughing and smiling at the camera.
Earlier this month, Talinda Bennington also shared a candid family photo taken just days before her husband’s death, saying, “Suicidal thoughts were there, but you’d never know.”
The new home video comes as Chester’s 15-year-old son Draven Bennington (from his ex-wife Samantha Bennington) spoke out about suicide this week, in videos released for National Suicide Prevention Week in the US.
“I want to make a commitment that I will talk to someone before I hurt myself when I’m feeling depressed, sad or going through a hard week, month or year,” he says in one video, as Linkin Park’s song ‘Numb’ plays in the background.
“I want to challenge you to do the same — to help yourself, not hurt yourself.”
Chester Bennington was laid to rest at a private funeral in July.
