Chad Channing’s Totally Up For A Nirvana Reunion

Nirvana‘s original drummer, Chad Channing, best known for his appearance on the legendary grunge outfit’s debut album, Bleach, has said he’d be up for a reunion with surviving bandmates Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic.

When asked in an interview with NME if he was interested in getting the surviving Nirvana members back together, the drummer responped, “Yeah, if they wanted me to.” Adding, “It’d maybe be something like Dave playing guitar and singing and Krist doing bass. That’d be about the only arrangement I could think of that we cold pull off.”

Channing, who currently leads the band Before Cars played with Nirvana from 1988 until 1990, laying down drums on several of their most famous songs, including About a Girl, School, Love Buzz, and even contributing to the band’s breakthrough 1991 album Nevermind, on the track Polly.

He was controversially left out of Nirvana’s Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame induction this year, where only the band’s “classic” lineup of the late Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl, and Krist Novoselic were recognised. Channing was reportedly informed via text message that he wasn’t going to be inducted.

The Hall of Fame show provided a reunion of sorts for Nirvana, as Grohl and Novoselic performed a string of Nirvana songs at the ceremong, alongside In Utero-era guitarist Pat Smear. Kim Gordon, Joan Jett, St. Vincent, and Lorde all took turns at the microphone, standing in for Kurt Cobain.
