Antwan “Big Boi” Patton, one half of legendary Atlanta hip-hop crew Outkast has quashed recent rumours that he and partner Andre “3000? Benjamin were working on a new album together. Back in November it was announced that the two would embark on a 40-date worldwide festival tour.
“No, no, no. We’re just doing the tour only, just for the fans. That’s all it is, just the tour,” Patton told Revolt TV at a Game of Thrones-themed party the rapper recently hosted. “It’s just the Outkast 20th year anniversary, just a way for us to celebrate with our fans, but there’s no album in the works, no.”
Speaking to GQ back in 2012, Andre 3000 made it clear that he was happy sticking to collaborations with other artists, saying, “I’ve been living off the excitement of new artists.” The rapper also revealed that he was working on a solo album, with his Outkast partner doing likewise.
Former manager Queen Latifah rekindled rumours of a new album during an interview last month, saying that the two were in the studio, though later retracting the statements. Longtime Outkast producer Mr. DJ then told Revolt that the new album would be released after the solo projects.
But despite the producer’s optimism, it appears neither of the ATLiens have plans to get back into the studio any time soon. The other hot rumour presently circling the duo is a potential appearance from the two hip-hop veterans at this year’s instalment of Splendour In The Grass.
