Alice In Chains have continued with the theme of their oddly but awesomely titled new album The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here in their new album cover, trying to explain their cheeky dig at religion.
The band have also taken the opportunity of posting news on their website to announce the release date for the first time. We can now tell you that The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here will drop Tuesday, 14th May, which is pretty damn soon. Very recently, the band teased the release by giving fans the opportunity to decipher a string of letters which when rearranged came together to form the album name. Pretty sure no-one got The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here.
During an interview, Jerry Cantrell explained that the title draws influence from the political and religious views expressed in the record:
“Read a f**king paper. What I’ve seen is the most basic message to most faith systems is in contradiction with how it gets applied. The human element seems to f**k it up. It seems to f**k up the basic truths of acceptance, loving your brother, helping each other out, not trying to kill each other or steal each other’s s**t. Those are all pretty good ideas. And most of your major religions have those things as basic tenets of the belief system. It always amazes me that some of the most hateful and hurtful things are done in the name of some sort of belief system.”
Oh yeah, and the track list. Behold that also.
