Barack Obama Has Revealed His Favourite Song Of 2015

Just because most of Barack Obama‘s time is spent negotiating with a hostile congress, coordinating foreign policy, overseeing national security and convincing the world that he is not the lead singer of Korn, doesn’t mean he doesn’t keep up with contemporary music.

In fact, Obama is so on top of 2015’s biggest releases, that his favourite song of the year is How Much A Dollar Cost from Kendrick Lamar‘s all-conquering LP To Pimp A Butterfly.

Obama revealed his fave 2015 tune to People while name-checking a few of his other favourite things from 2015. The track which features James Fauntleroy and Ronald Isley is a socially-charged Lamar track that narrates his encounter with a homeless man asking for a dollar.

While Obama’s choice is a pretty heavy track, his wife Michelle has gone for something a little more light-hearted, naming Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk as her favourite track of 2015. The track was actually released in November 2014, but we imagine she’s been pretty busy this year so we’ll let her off the hook.

The pair didn’t stop at songs, with Obama calling Matt Damon’s The Martian his favourite movie of 2015 while the First Lady opted for the Amy Poehler-starring Pixar animation Inside Out. Elsewhere, Barack picked The Knick as his favourite TV show while Michelle chose Black-ish.

Obama also counts trekking the arctic circle with Bear Grylls for his show as one of his highlights of the year. Gathering outside the White House after the Supreme Court ruled in favour of gay marriage was another key moment for the President.

Obama previously gave us a glimpse into his taste in music when he released his curated Spotify playlist of go-to jams for the summer. The list features a diverse collection of artists, from The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and Frank Sinatra to Florence + The Machine, Justin Timberlake and of course Queen Bey.

Now it seems he’s added Kendrick to the mix.
