CHECK OUT THE LATEST
Having influenced groundbreaking artists, including The Prodigy and Crystal Castles, Berlin’s Atari Teenage Riot have left an immeasurable impact on today’s modern music soundscape. The trio have announced that they will be heading to Australia, bringing with them their unique brand of digital hardcore chaos.
The political turmoil of their context inevitably bleeds into the group’s music, kicking up a massive wave of support from like-minded individuals. The band itself was somewhat of a misfit – with punk vocals, and overtures of techno peppered with jungle, all held together with speedy metal guitar work. ATR refused to be pigeon-holed, but rather blazed their own trail, which few of their contemporaries managed to navigate, even 20 years later.
The 90s were riddled with successful singles from the band, but come 2000, Atari Teenage Riot were on hiatus, a break that was made permanent the following year after the death of prominent member Carl Crack. However, in 2010, they reformed with a new found passion and renewed energy. Their reunion show was quickly followed by a fresh release, Is this Hyperreal? in 2011.
This is one of those shows that you’ll kick yourself for missing, as hearing about it from all your friends who are sure to go just won’t do it justice.
