Arcade Fire have debuted some brand new material at a show in their home town of Montreal over the weekend.
Earlier this year the band announced that they’ve finished their new album and announced that a huge tour is on the way, and shortly after that they released the first track from their follow up to 2013’s Reflektor in the form of a track featuring Mavis Staples titled ‘I Give You Power’.
It now seems that the new record might be closer than we thought, with the Montreal Gazette reporting that the band performed a secret show and debuted six brand new songs from their forthcoming, as-yet-unnamed album.
The new songs were said exhibit pop and electronic influences in the vein of Reflektor, and the new tracks were performed in between material from their previous records.
Arcade Fire’s European tour begins on June 3rd, so it will be very interesting to see whether any further music is revealed between now and then.
