Angels And Airwaves Stream ‘Paralyzed’ From New Album ‘The Dream Walker’

Fans of the Tom DeLonge-fronted Angels and Airwaves can rejoice, for the band, now a duo, have announced the forthcoming arrival of a new album, The Dream Walker, and are streaming its first track, Paralyzed.

The track will appear on the outfit’s first full-length since 2011's Love: Part Two and signals a heavier musical direction. “Lyrically, the song is about sleep paralysis,” DeLonge told Rolling Stone. “I think we needed something that would turn heads and ignite a fan base of post-hardcore punk-rock kids that might still be lingering there from my earlier years.”

The group has gone through a series of lineup changes over the years, and this year became a duo with DeLonge and Nine Inch Nails drummer Ilan Rubin. The upcoming record will be the first album the outfit have recorded since the death of sound engineer Jeff “Critter” Newel, often regarded as a member of the band by themselves and fans alike.

“It was hard – he was my champion,” said DeLonge about recording without Newel. “It was an extraordinary journey with him. When I listen to those other Angels and Airwaves records, I just might break out with tears every once in a while because it was somebody who really was there for me in a really important part of my life.”

In keeping with the precedent set by their previous releases, on October 31st in the US, DeLonge’s label, To the Stars, will start releasing some of the extra multimedia elements to that accompany the album, including music videos, animations, comic books, a novel and a feature film. The album itself, The Dream Walker, will be released in November.
