Alt-J have announced they will be returning to Australia, fresh off their appearance at T In The Park 2013, for a handful of headlining dates this July. As well making stops in Sydney and Melbourne, the band will skip Brisbane and Adelaide this time round and head west for a single date in Perth, which makes Alt-J a strong possibility to play Splendour In The Grass 2013.
The band only recently visited Australia as part of St. Jeromes Laneway Festival, taking the opportunity to play an intimate gig at Sydney’s Metro Theatre. Obviously fans and band alike couldn’t get enough of each other, with Alt-J’s July trip set to be their biggest national tour to date, including their first ever WA performance.
When speaking with backstage at Laneway, Alt-J said they weren’t worried about any supposed curse that has affected past winners of the British Barclaycard Mercury Prize.
“I suppose some people look at some artists that have won it and go, ‘Oh, where are they now?’ But you wouldn’t say that Arctic Monkeys or The xx [or] PJ Harvey have been cursed,” explained Alt-J’s Gus Unger-Hamilton.
