Alt-J And Django Django Secret Performances Kick Off Glastonbury 2013

While we slept, the great Glastonbury 2013 festival kicked off and, much to the delight of fans, organisers still had a few tricks up their sleeves – help break in the William’s Green Stage wer UK indie darlings Alt-J and Django Django who performed a secret set that didn’t stay a secret for long.

This was the first time the band had performed at the iconic festival and punters weren’t going to miss the opportunity. Despite lack of prior knowledge, the band came onstage to front an absolutely packed out tent. “Hello, Glastonbury! I tell you what, it’s pretty f**king amazing saying that,” band member Gus Unger Hamilton told the crowd. The multi-instrumentalist could hardly contain his excitement, telling the crowd “If tomorrow’s anywhere as good as this, well…”

That would be in reference to the bands actual scheduled performance at the festival, which was publicised as taking place Friday, 28th June where they will be performing on a different stage.

Prior to their performance, fellow indie darlings Django Django took to the William’s Green Stage and revved up the swelling crowd with a high-energy live set as part of the stage’s launch party.

So there you have it, Glastonbury hadn’t even properly started and already it was blowing minds. Bookies suggest that Daft Punk and Beady Eye are the most likely bands to perform a completely unannounced set at the festival, so we’ll wait and see how that plays out.
