Allday: “If You’re Broke, You Have My Permission To Torrent My Album”

Adelaide rapper Allday says that fans who are a bit low on cash when his album comes out are allowed to download it illegally. The rapper’s highly anticipated debut full-length album, Startup Cult, is slated for release Friday, 4th July and is currently available for pre-order via the Allday website.

In a time when artists are struggling to fight the scourge of torrenting, with even the government now considering measures to curb the practice, Allday has told fans: “Not sure what my label is going to say about this but if you are broke you have my permission to torrent my album when it comes out.”

However, the rapper says if you’re not that skint and “you have $20,” you can pre-order Startup Cult via the JB Hi-Fi website or through iTunes. There’s even some sweet merch bundles available on the Allday website, if you’re looking to cop the new album and some new threads in the process.

Allday recently opened up on the making of his debut album during a Reddit AMA, telling fans the full-length differs from his previous releases because, “I knew I had to be better, so I tried a lot harder with recording, doing a lot of takes in the booth etc. Some tracks we spent a whole day on, finished, then scrapped everything and started again. That was the first time I’ve done that.”
