AJ Maddah: “Adelaide City Council Is Trying To Get Rid Of Soundwave 2015?

AJ Maddah has taken to Twitter to appeal to fans of his flagship festival, Soundwave, saying that Adelaide City Council (ACC) is looking to “get rid of Soundwave 2015.” The ACC recently added Soundwave 2015 to their ‘Your Say Adelaide’ forum page to gather locals’ thoughts on the event.

According to the page, the council have received promoters’ application for use of Bonython Park/Tulya Wardli on Saturday, 21st February and Sunday, 22nd February, but before they give them the green light, they’re looking for feedback from the public concerning the lease proposal.

Maddah is pleading with fans to head over to the page and “show your support in a respectful manner,” adding that “it would be sad to lose Adelaide,” which he described as his favourite Soundwave event. The ‘Your Say Adelaide’ initiative gives fans a chance to speak directly to Adelaide City Council members and let them know the significance that Soundwave holds.

If readers from Adelaide or who travel to Adelaide to attend Soundwave wish to have their say, Maddah has urged fans to “please make sure that you state your Adelaide address. If you travel to Adel SW from out of town please state that clearly.” More info can be found at the ACC’s FAQ page.

Earlier this month, the council announced that they would be enforcing new noise restrictions for “high-risk events” like Soundwave. After a wave of outrage on social media, the council issued a response in which they dispelled some of the rumours surrounding the new noise restrictions.

Meanwhile, the council’s feedback FAQ page has possibly unveiled a new Soundwave 2015 logo. Maddah indicated earlier in the year that he would like to do a comic book theme for Soundwave in the future and the previously unseen logo has indeed been rendered in a Superman-style font.
