Warnambool’s favourite heavy-hittin’, Jack Daniels-guzzling rockers Airbourne have announced details of their third album, due out on May 17.
Black Dog Barking is the follow-up to 2010's second record No Guts, No Glory and was produced by Brian Howes, who has previously been behind the desk for the not-so-rockin’ Nickleback, Hinder, and Puddle of Mudd.
Conveniently enough for overseas fans of the boys, the album is scheduled for release just prior to a series of European festival appearances, including Rock Am Ring (Germany), Download (UK) and Rock Werchter (Belgium).
And there was clearly no festive celebrations in the Airbourne camp last year, with frontman Joel O’Keefe revealing that the band worked throughout the holiday break to get the new album in the can.
“A lot of thought and effort has gone into this record, not only by the band, but by the production crew who worked countless hours, seven days a week, even through Christmas and New Year’s Eve to achieve the best possible performances, backed by real undying tones,” he said.
“Now we’re handing it over to you…so crank it up, crack a beer and stick some rock ‘n’ roll in your ear!”
After bursting onto the scene with their debut Runnin’ Wild in 2007, the band relocated to New Jersey. As a result, they’re more popular overseas now than they are back here at home. There’s no news of a homecoming tour just yet, but I’d say we could expect some dates in the second half of 2013.
