AC/DC To Play Glastonbury 2015?

Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis says he’s already booked the three acts who will headline the 2015 edition of the UK festival. Eavis confirmed that one of the bands was booked while watching a performance by this year’s headliner, Metallica, a band rumoured to be hard rock legends AC/DC.

“We had an agent [for a band] yesterday on the platform by the stage watching Metallica with me, saying ‘My band want to do it next year,’” said Eavis during a press conference, according to The Independent. “I can’t tell you who it was but that was done on the platform watching Metallica.”

Asked if the mystery band that Eavis booked while watching this year’s controversial headliners was of British origin, the promoter and dairy farmer offered fans a mysterious clue, saying, “Is it a British artist? He’s definitely British, but the band are not British anymore.” AC/DC is comprised of Scottish frontman Brian Johnson, with the rest of the band Australian or Australian expatriates.

According to BBC Radio producer Rory McConnell, Eavis was watching Metallica’s set with the band’s manager, Peter Mensch, who is also the manager for AC/DC. Meanwhile, UK bookies have adjusted the odds on the hard rock icons or Iron Maiden to headline Glastonbury 2015.

Rumours of AC/DC’s place on next year’s Glastonbury lineup come shortly after singer Johnson revealed via his website that the band is “very likely” to tour before the end of the year, having previously told an interviewer that he is “not finished” playing live and hopes to tour again soon.
