VIOLETA WENT TO HEAVEN / VIOLETA SE FUE A LOS CIELOS

FEATURE | CHILE | 2011 | ANDRES WOOD | 110 MIN | SPANISH/FRENCH | ENGLISH SUBTITLES

Taking out this year's Sundance World Cinema Jury Prize - Dramatic, Violeta Went to Heaven is the extraordinary story of famed Chilean folksinger Violeta Parra.

Tracing her evolution from impoverished child to national hero and international sensation, the film beautifully captures the swirling intensity of Parra's inner contradictions, hopes and passions. Directed by Machuca's Andrés Wood, this is an unconventional and beautifully filmed biopic of one of the most important and celebrated Latin American artists of all time.

Tickets: $17 adult / $15 concession will include a complimentary wine or soft drink from Dendy Newtown bar.

The Sydney Latin American Film Festival is a non-profit organisation, run by a passionate and dedicated team of volunteers and collaborators. Monies raised from ticket sales are donated to community development projects.
