Just Announced!

Additional artists added to Urban Jungle.
Sat 4th, Sun 5th March 2017 at The Carine.

The Carine takes Urban Jungle to the next level with several additional renowned WA
artists joining the already epic line up, plus more street food vendors, a street art display
and a freestyle competition!

It will bring a diverse range of Australian talent showcasing a mix of genres such as Hip Hop, Funk, Alt Rock, Soul and more!!

Headlining this Two Day Music Event will be Perth's Hip Hop Artist DRAPHT (Saturday) & Melbourne's singer-songwriter & muti-instrumentalist HARTS (Sunday).

With two gold records and a literal handful of ARIA nominations already under his belt, it's no great secret that DRAPHT is a songwriting prodigy. Whether you focus on his lyrics, his melodic hooks as a songwriter Drapht can pretty much do everything. Each of his four subsequent albums - Pale Rider (2003), Who Am I (2005), Brothers Grimm (2008) and Life Of Riley (2010) - brought increasing levels of complexity and refinement, ascending Drapht to the absolute upper echelon of Australia's stacked card of hip-hop heavyweights. Already, he is one of the greats.

HARTS, composes, produces and records his own music. his music has been described as dance-oriented alternative rock and electronic indie, blending elements of funk, post-disco, psychedelic rock, soul, new romanticism, and blues.

More recently, Harts has become known for his Hendrix-like guitar playing and blend of Funk, Pop, Rock and Soul music, which has earned praise from wide range of musicians such as Prince, Nick Littlemore and more. His voice and music also bears resemblance to that of Lenny Kravitz.

Now joining Draught, Spit Syndicate and Marksman Lloyd on Saturday will be:

MR GREVIS: It's been a long road leading to the release of a debut album for Garry McPhee - or Mr. Grevis, as he is known.. The MC has been freestyling since 16 purely for the love of it, but recently chose to release his first track "the Youth" which skyrocketed to the top of the Triple J Unearthed chart where it continued to take the number one spot for
several weeks. The accusatory lyrics are layered over a melancholy beat by Pauly P, taking aim at the attitude of young people today, and the society that raised them.

A friendship with hip hop heavyweight Drapht - who gave him his first mic - along with beats from such talented producers as Dazastah, Rob Shaker and Trials, definitely hasn't hurt the calibre of Mr. Grevis's work. But it is primarily his ability to combine strong thematic lyrics with a catchy chorus that has brought the Perth rapper his recent success.

BLUNTFIELD MC Bluntfield plays the art of hip-hop to the full extent, sharpening his tool of knowledge into his weapon of choice to combat antidisestablishmentarianism. With a theatrical eccentricity to his performance, he stands firm in his convictions, colouring his wordplay carefully while addressing a range of potent and politically-charged social issues. He draws heavily from the anti-establishment film heroes and comic legends of his 1980s childhood and his musical influences including Cypress Hill, KRS-One, Redman and spoken word poet/rapper Sage Francis.

PLUS A FREESTYLE COMPETITION! Will be held on Sat 4th March, and is open to all, but places are limited so get down early to register. Registration is on Sat between 4-5pm with the competition taking place at 6:30. Judged by some of the artists performing on the day, plus audience votes. There is a great prize on offer for the winner so if you  think you have what it takes, be sure to get amongst it.

Then on Sunday, joining Harts, Andy Bull and Okenyo will be:

VDELLI Thermonuclear Indi/Rock unit VDELLI, have arrived on the world stage, on time, in form, now showcasing their unique and intoxicating new sound. Michael Vdelli (Guitar, Vocal), Leigh Miller (Bass, Vocal) and Hanser Sch ler (Drums, Vocal) collectively are a perfect storm, taking all before them in their stride, with no respite in sight.

WOOLY MAMMOTH Wooly Mammoth is a 4 piece Alternative rock band from Perth, Australia. After half a year tucked away finding their sound, Wooly Mammoth emerged in mid 2016 with a pool full of telling tunes and a desire to deliver their music to Australia's live music scene. Describing their genre as electronic, Indie Rock, they are a blend of unique song-writing, explorative sounds and daring live energy. Grounded in piercing lyrics and melodies, striking instrumentals and a tenacious live show, Wooly Mammoth want their music to mean something, and want to make listeners move.
