Sammy Johnson exploded onto the Pacific / Californian Reggae, Roots scene in 2013 with his hit collaboration "Give Me All" with iconic Hawaiian Reggae star, FIJI. After releasing his debut EP Prelude worldwide in August 2013, Sammy Johnson has gone on to secure #1 Airplay in both New Zealand and Hawaii with lead single off the album 'Don't Say Goodbye' topping the charts in both territories and raking up nearly 3 million views on YouTube. Also pricking the ears of American tastemakers, artists and fans, the bright young star has taken on the US with sellout shows in LA and at the Las Vegas 7s, a full US tour with Californian sensations Common Kings and performances at Island Reggae Festival alongside internationals including FIJI and J. Boog. Not slowing down in 2014, Sammy Johnson released a self-titled EP in November. Blending soulful vocals and soothing reggae beats, first single 'No Sleep' was another chart topper, coming in at #1 on the NZ iTunes Reggae chart and even cracking the US Billboard Top 40 Reggae Chart, while second single 'Hey' debuted in the NZ top 20 single charts. His popularity in Hawaii also continued to grow - receiving #1 chart placements at local radio for "No Sleep", "Hey", "Leaving Me' and "Oh Time". Topping off the year, Sammy J played to a huge crowd at Raggamuffin Festival alongside legendary internationals such as UB40, Ice Cube, Chronixx and Cypress Hill, before kicking off the New Year with a performance at the equally renowned One Love Festival and headline shows across New Zealand and Australia. It was an apt way to see in 2015, with Sammy J further cementing himself as a favourite in both the local and international scenes. Currently based in LA, Sammy J recently sold out half of his US 12-date Climax Tour and played Honolulu's MayJah RayJah Festival, all while working on new material with new single "I'm The One For You'. With combined YouTube views upwards of 5million, a string of number one songs and new tracks just around the corner, Sammy Johnson's soulful, sunny style and approachable attitude have shaped him into a leading figurehead in the reggae scene, and proved he's here to stay.
