BORTIER OKOE

Well-known for his extraordinary musical gifts and exciting innovations. as composer, master traditional drummer, multi-instrumentalist and singer,
Bortier is popular and sought after performer, delivers songs in English, and his native Ghanaian languages of Ga, Twi, and Ewe.
Bortier Okoe truly is one of Africa's most inspirational musicians. Born in Ghana, West Africa, Bortier was a child prodigy who spent much of his childhood travelling Ghana with his family in their music and dance performance group, Nyomor Baatsor, and it's not surprising to learn that he was recognised by the Ghanaian government as a master drummer and cultural ambassador when he was only seventeen years old.
Bortier recently toured and launched his latest Dzeng Sane (World Matters) album in Africa and Australia.   "Representing West Africa sounds, the style of music that for me embodies the essence of WOMADelaide this year, were Bortier Okoe"

Featuring Astro's velvety vocals, silky trumpet and his deep soulful songs, The Ages' sound is a melting pot of soul & reggae with a slight melancholy, blues horns, pristine ambience and dance rhythms from around the world.
Astro himself has played his trumpet on stage with bands as diverse as Hiatus Kaiyote, Public Opinion, Cyndi Lauper & The Jazz Party, and recorded on albums by Husky, DubFX, TZU, Chelsea Wilson, Hue Blanes, Martin Martini, Blue King Brown, The Red Eyes and with Dan Sultan. These influences have all naturally found a place to shine in Astro's songs.
Often choosing to go out on a limb, searching for moments of unrehearsed elation, their live sound has been connecting with people in a very positive way.
