BORTIER OKOE
Well-known for his extraordinary musical gifts and exciting innovations. as composer, master traditional drummer, multi-instrumentalist and singer,
Bortier is popular and sought after performer, delivers songs in English, and his native Ghanaian languages of Ga, Twi, and Ewe.
Bortier Okoe truly is one of Africa's most inspirational musicians. Born in Ghana, West Africa, Bortier was a child prodigy who spent much of his childhood travelling Ghana with his family in their music and dance performance group, Nyomor Baatsor, and it's not surprising to learn that he was recognised by the Ghanaian government as a master drummer and cultural ambassador when he was only seventeen years old.
Bortier recently toured and launched his latest Dzeng Sane (World Matters) album in Africa and Australia.
"Representing West Africa sounds, the style of music that for me embodies the essence of WOMADelaide this year, were Bortier Okoe"

AMARU TRIBE
Amazonic drums, vibrating charangos and powerful vocal harmonies and much more.....
Strings, Skins and wood holds together this tribe of six. Emerging from their trans-oceanic journeys they gather by the laws of creative gravity in the city of Melbourne to resonate with a new sound vision. In Quechua, "Amaru" is the serpent which connects the spiritual and the subterranean world. The tribes deep connection with their roots and mythology is nurtured through in their songlines. Amazonic drums, vibrating charangos and powerful vocal harmonies align to the Australian land creating a musical portal that connects the entire south hemisphere and gives birth to an unknown genre which they call Oceanic Cumbia.
Produced by Oscar Jimenez with an active group of local artists, songwriters and well known musicians the tribes songs are a personal and collective work connected to topics of social change, ancestral wisdom, love, life and everything that moves us.
