BLACK JESUS EXPERIENCE (BJX) is an eight piece band playing an irresistibly danceable blend of traditional Ethiopian song and 21st Century groove. With backgrounds as diverse as the 5 countries the members of BJX hail from, their music reflects the multicultural vibrancy of the band's hometown, Melbourne, Australia.
BJX's fourth album 'Migration' won 'The Age-Music Victoria Best Global Album 2014' award. Other awards for BJX include 'Most Outstanding Performance Troupe Of The Year, African Australian National Awards 2013' Highlights for BJX include two tours of "the Motherland" Ethiopia, performing with Ethiojazz legend Mulatu Astatke in Europe and Australia (an association which won BJX and Mulatu 'The Age Best National Tour 2013' award), Glastonbury and other great festivals.
The rhymes and chimes of Black Jesus Experience deliver the power and beauty of Africa through the vocal prism of Hip-Hop and freedom of Funk.

Party people of the world - get ready for the sounds of Alaiiya! Olugbade Okunade aka GP Saxy, former trumpet player from Fela & Seun Kuti's famous Afrobeat orchestra, Egypt 80; has created his own band Alaiiya. For the past 14 years Okunade performed with Egypt 80 on the world stage at WOMAD, Bluesfest, Cochella, the Jools Holland show, Montreal Jazz Festival, New Orleans Jazz Festival and many more.
Alaiiya meaning 'party people' in Yor b , presents the rich musical culture of Nigeria to audiences across the globe. Nigeria's multi-talented trumpeter, mastered his skills with the band that originally served Afrobeat to the world. This accomplished musician is now ready to take his message to stimulate the mind and infiltrate the soul.

DJ CHRIS GILL
DJ Chris Gill is the voice of soul and funk on Melbourne's 3RRR with his Thursday afternoon slot Get Down. He will be spinning his regular reggae, afrobeat, jazz and latin jams.
