What is Warrambeen? Sheep and Films?

Warrambeen is the most unique film festival in Australia, if not the world. We show short films from all corners of the globe on four screens within a Sheep farm, Warrambeen. We also show Aussie features at night to the camping audience. These unusual cinemas create a very picturesque location and that is just the beginning of whats on offer. Cinema 1 and 2 are in the historic Bluestone woolshed that was built in 1832. Cinema 3 in a day screen that sits in the Orchard in front of the stunning Homestead and Cinema 4 is the Massive 8 X 10 meter inflatable, that pops up next to the main stage to become the focus of the day/evening. The produce market surrounds the main stage in a natural amphitheatre.

To attend the day session you will need DAY Pass. Through the DAY, there is produce market serving up delicious refreshments and food. Last year these stalls included, fresh Calamari, local pork and snags, Paella, African, local boutique beers and wines and homemade ice cream plus many more. Excellent live music meanders off the main stage plus heaps of other entertainment to keep you busy between screenings. Films play continuously on the screens dotted around the farm buildings.

In the evening the main stage and screen becomes the focus. Our headline band warms up the crowd as the sun slips behind the gum trees. We then show the Best of the Fest or our top short films selected earlier in the year by our committee. These films are then judged by a few celebrities, film makers and farmers that make up the judging panel. Winners are announces and that concludes the DAY part of the event at about 10.30pm

For the first year in 2012 Warrambeen will have its inaugural NIGHT session for our exclusive campers. We will be showing two Aussie feature films. Expect some classics.Thrillers and Horrors to test your nerves in the middle of a paddock!

We will also offer a bar, food and music throughout the night to make this the only camping film festival in Australia. Camping is for all ages but NIGHT session is strictly 18+. In other words families are welcome to camp and we will have a separate area for families, but the NIGHT session is a bit of a party. The festival finishes in the early hours of Sunday morning and the campers can sprawl out under the stars.

What you need to bring?

Bring CASH. We have no cash machines at Warrambeen and the closest cash machine is about 30 km away so dont forget.

If youre attending the DAY event you will need a DAY PASS. Bring sunscreen, a hat, a small portable chair such as a beach chair, plenty of water and a rug for the main stage area. You can setup for the day and enjoy the market and music between film sessions. In the evening it usually gets cool so bring warm cloths and a blanket to rug up.

If attending the NIGHT sessions you will need a DAY and NIGHT ticket. This gets you free camping. Campers will need a tent, swag, or the back of a car with a mattress, warm cloths and a sleeping bag. It can get really cold this time of year so if youre camping please bring warm cloths. There are no fires at Warrambeen due to fire restrictions. Toilets and water will be provided on the camp site plus hot food, drinks and breakfast will be on sale though some of our fantastic food vendors. Cars cannot be moved after 8 pm until 8 am the next day so grab your spot and settle in!

What not to bring?

Warrambeen is an event for everyone. With this in mind dont bring offensive behavior and bad attitudes. Families, oldies and kids all attend Warrambeen so be respectful of others. Our security will not tolerate anything except for you and your fellow punters having a great time. The night session is more of a party so if thats what you are after pace yourself through the day. Dont jump fences and dont go into private property. Warrambeen is a farm owned by a farming family. They have let us use the location for this great so show respect at all times!

No fires, BYO alcohol, guns, ammunition, illegal drugs.

No swimming in Dams.
