Event Details

After joining forces to tour Europe in October, these 4 award winning and highly acclaimed singer/songwriters are now bringing the show ‘Down Under’, touring major cities in Early 2015 to coincide with new album releases. With songwriting styles likened to Tom Waits & Elvis Costello (Jack Henderson), Ed Sheeran (Sam York), Bob Dylan/Gram Parsons (Lachlan Bryan) and Emmylou Harris/Jewel (Aleyce Simmonds) this show is bound to please the music lover and entertain with it’s diverse and collaborative nature. With a special guest Norwegian singer/songwriter thrown into the mix, this is a show not to be missed.

Jack Henderson

Having toured Europe and the UK for many years, Jack's songwriting took him to the USA where he shared stages with artists such as Buddy Miller, Sarah McLachlan and Natalie Merchant.

It was during this period that Jack recorded his first album - Cheap Tattoo, working with producers - Byron House, (Emmylou Harris), Don Heffington (Bob Dylan, Neil Young) and Richard Causon (Ryan Adams, Rufus

Wainwright). His songs have been recorded by various artists in the US and the UK and performed live by the likes of Ron Sexsmith and others.

On his most recent recording, due for release in early 2015, Jack worked with Patti Smith's producer and bass player, Tony Shanahan. "I just loved the sonic quality of Patti's 'Banga' album. I discovered Tony was largely responsible for the way

that record sounded and when I got to share a few whiskies with him shortly after its release we discovered a natural affinity. A year later they got together at Tony's studio in New York to record 'This Daring Light'. The album includes contributions from Marc Ribot, (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello), Tony Garnier (Bob Dylan, Paul Simon), Jon Graboff (Ryan Adams, Sheryl Crow), and others. However, as Jack is keen to point out, "The most important thing remains the song. That's what has to stand up. If it doesn't everything else is a waste of time."

Sam York

Sam York is one of Britain's finest new songwriters - his songs are both accessible and poetic, and he has been receiving rave reviews, even before an official release. His soulful vocals add an emotional vibrancy to his performances, and he has played alongside artists including Tom Jones, Jesse J, and Ed Sheeran. Sam is a pillar of the London songwriting scene, organising and hosting regular in-the-round masterclasses with renowned British songwriters, including Graham Gouldman (The Hollies, 10cc) and Barry Mason (Elvis Presley, Tom Jones). In addition to his musical activities, Sam is producing and presenting a documentary for the BBC entitled 'The Pop Star and The Prophet' about the future of the music industry, set for release in 2015.

"As I listened to Sam's music and read the lyrics, I felt like I was hearing genuine human emotion. In a world pumped full of synthetic beats and meaningless lyrics, his words are like poetry" - Pie Magazine

Lachlan Bryan

Lachlan Bryan, with his band The Wildes, has released three critically-acclaimed albums. The most recent, Black Coffee, was awarded Alternative Country Album of the Year at the 2014 Country Music Awards of Australia (Golden Guitars). The band went on to win Best Group/Duo at The Independent Country Music Awards of Australia. Lachlan has toured extensively in Australia, the USA and the UK - including many MainStage festival appearances. He has joined the likes of legendary songwriters Steve Earle, John Hiatt and Shawn Colvin on their Australian tours. In 2014 lachlan signed with ABC Music Publishing (Australia) and BMG/Chrysallis (USA).

Aleyce Simmonds

2014 Australian Independent Female Artist of the year, Aleyce Simmonds is no stranger to country music audiences. A 4 times Golden Guitar nominee, she rose to prominence in 2005 after winning the Telstra Road to Tamworth competition. Since then she has delivered no.1 singles, hit videos and toured extensively with artists from all ends of the country music spectrum. Hers has been an old-school country music journey - complete with successes and failures, broken hearts and even physical adversity. Touring Australia, the UK (Including headlong a UK music festival) and Europe throughout 2014 gave Aleyce the inspiration needed to write her 3rd studio album, due for release in Early 2015.
