New Zealand based The Phoenix Foundation are today excited to announce their return to Australian shores this coming October with headline shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The band last visited Australia in April this year for a quick promo visit that resulted in a sold out Northcote Social Club show leaving Australian fans hungry for more.

It is with much regret that The Phoenix Foundation have been forced to cancel the Australian leg of their world tour due to family health reasons. The band sincerely apologises for anyone inconvenienced by the cancellation. Full refunds will be available from the point of purchase.

The band wish to make the following statement.

It is with great regret that we must pull out of this weeks' Australian tour due to family health reasons. It is an absolute bummer but the right thing to do in this situation. We love you OZ and we will be back as soon as possible! Our UK and Europe shows will go ahead as planned. We are really sorry for the terrible inconvenience. Sometimes life intervenes.

Much love The Phoenix Foundation - Sam, Luke, Conrad, Will, Chris and Tom

New Zealand based The Phoenix Foundation are today excited to announce their return to Australian shores this coming October with headline shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The band last visited Australia in April this year for a quick promo visit that resulted in a sold out Northcote Social Club show leaving Australian fans hungry for more.

The band is also excited to reveal their sixth studio album 'Give Up Your Dreams' which is out today via Caroline Australia and is currently streaming via The Guardian. The first single from the album is titled 'Mountain' and premiered on Stereogum and was recently added to Double J.

The Phoenix Foundation have been performing and producing music together for nearly 15 years. As one of New Zealand's most accomplished acts, they have either won or been nominated for every music industry award NZ has to offer. Their recent releases of 'Buffalo', 'Fandango' and 'Tom's Lunch' have seen them receive high acclaim from publications such as Mojo, Q, Uncut, NME and The Guardian. BBC Radio Personalities such as Lauren Laverne and Jarvis Cocker are fans. They have performed on stages around the globe from Later with Jools Holland to the Big Day Out to Glastonbury.

Channeling previous album 'Fandango's' beauteous side, but this time fuelled by aspitball of irrepressible energy, 'Give Up Your Dreams' is the band's most vibrant offering to date. With the new addition of drummer Chris O'Connor, the album was written taking its lead from the rhythm section for the very first time; paving the way for an all-new creative process. "Give Up Your Dreams could sound like a defeat but it represents something quite defiant, joyous and celebratory" exclaims co-frontman Samuel Scott of the record's infectious, rhythmically driven sound and optimistic feel.

Recorded within the pow-wow setting of the band's Car Club HQ in Wellington, NZ, it's the first time the band felt totally comfortable and confident in taking on production duties entirely themselves. "The mood when we were recording was so easy, so cordial," recalls Scott. Taking a free form approach from Chris and bass guitarist/vocalist Tom Callwood's experiences in the city's improv and experimental scene, the album's cosmic vibes are an upshot of utilising gadgets to shapeshift each sound. Whilst synths were always built into the Foundation's musical make-up, this time around they're placed centre stage; "we spent a great deal of time messing with an old Eventide H3000. There would be very few sounds we didn't try to mess with," says Scott. "We turned all the cool and interesting sounds up loud so nothing was competing in the mix and you can actually hear the trippy shit."
