Indigenous Hip Hop group The Last Kinection are returning to Newcastle to take over the stage for an explosive live show,  raising money for and proudly supporting The Hunger Project Australia.

The Last Kinection (TLK) have established themselves as an empowering lyric-driven group with melodic production and progressive hip hop feel, led with Indigenous heart and soul. Great humour and captivating entertainment is what gives TLK's personality such charm.

Winners of 'Band of The Year' & 'Best Single' at The Deadly Awards 2011 and 'Most Outstanding Achievement in Hip Hop/R&B' in 2009 and 2010, along with 'Best Female Artist' award for Nay in 2010, their stagecraft will leave you wanting more.  They've played at The Peats Ridge Festival, The Dreaming, Groovin' The Moo, Field Days, Sydney Festival and many more. Don't miss their return to Newcastle, it's one show only for now!

Supporting The Last Kinection will be Newcastle's MC/Producer Dawn Laird, Hip Hop artist Jacquie Lomas, soulful singer and songwriter Gambirra & SambaFrog.

Dawn Laird writes rhymes. Dawn Laird makes beats. Dawn Laird records the rhymes she writes over the beats she makes. An independent MC/Producer from Newcastle, DL has a sound heavily inspired by soul, big band, boom bap and the likes of Erykah Badu, Company Flow and pioneers Def Wish Cast. With the release of her debut single 'Eva', DL catapulted onto the national scene as a solo artist in 2013, gaining air play and acclaim from Triple J announcer Steph Hughes on Unearthed radio. Her follow up single 'Mel Blanc' went on to receive similar praise. Gigging consistently on the east coast in 2013, DL was invited to support national heavyweights Mantra, Dialectrix and Sky'High on the Central Coast, Newcastle and Sydney respectively. Her uninhibited, rapid fire delivery and charismatic live presence have gained DL a loyal and substantial cross cultural and cross generational following.

Gambirra is an independent producer, composer, arranger, singer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist who plays a unique fusion of soulful progressive roots, funk & dub.  Moving provocative rhythms and powerful arresting vocals, best describe the work of this artist.

Jacquie Lomas is an independent Hip Hop artist born and bred in Newcastle. Jacquie Lomas has supported home grown artists such as Thundamentals, The Tongue, Kerser, Dialectrix, The Last Kinnection and Yung Warriors; and also supported International rap legends Bone Thugs N' Harmony in 2012 and US rapper The Game in late 2013.

Sambafrog is a multicultural collective of drummers and dancers bringing the excitement from the streets of Brazil and Rio Carnival.  Draw yourself into the infectious beats from the drummers, and elaborate costumes of the dancers.  You'll love these guys!

If The Last Kinection, Dawn Laird, Gambirra, Jacquie Lomas and Sambafrog are not reason enough to come, this is a fundraising event with net proceeds donated to The Hunger Project Australia.  It's an awesome cause - come along and support it, and listen to some explosive lyrics and beats in the process.
