Melbourne 10 piece funk/soul orchestra The Cactus Channel take their debut album HAPTICS on the road for their first national tour.
Raw, loose and nasty funk, recorded straight to analog tape. It's just like the old days, but so new it's sporting a badass teenage moustache. Now that they've graduated high school, they're taking their own brand of high-octane, instrumental car chase funk and smooth soundtrack soul to the people with their debut, Haptics. On the road and on the airwaves, 2012 is the year The Cactus Channel come of age.
HAPTICS has received album of the week across 6 national radio stations and is being credited as one of the best new funk/soul records among fans.
"Propelled by a hot-to-trot, James Brown-influenced rhythm section, ignited by fiery lead guitar and stoked by a female-loaded brass quintet , the Cactus Channel powers along like an embryonic version of the Meters or the Dap Kings" - THE AUSTRALIAN (four stars)
"Tightly raw soul, rambling deep-funk jams and organ-driven party mash-ups" - THE AGE
"Infectiously funky sounds... a horn-fuelled, butt-shaking affair" - triple j HOME & HOSED
"It's old-fashioned, gritty and down-home soul music - by a bunch of white teenagers from Melbourne" - THE MONTHLY
"This ten-piece means business... The Cactus Channel are incredibly talented and competent musicians" - BEAT
"Haptics is quite simply a near-perfect funk album... A rich cluster of solid, compelling instrumental pieces" - DRUM MEDIA
"Celebratory in the best possible way... The Cactus Channel are destined to rule the festival circuit this summer" - RHYTHMS
