Cult-whiz The Bedroom Philosopher will perform his only East Coast shows of the year, celebrating the E-book release of The Bedroom Philosopher Diaries. He'll be joined by his whip-tight Awkwardstra and supported by choice spoken word artists and body-poets. This is a chance to see words spun into shape as Justin Heazlewood (Frankie, Mess & Noise) flexes his wit and song-smarts in intimate surrounds. B-Phil will preview a swag of new tracks from a highly-amped forthcoming album produced by SPOD. He'll also spin salacious tales from his book – the bride stripped bare for hipsters.
Supporting the shows are a selection of BP's favourite writers and performers. Benjamin Law (Frankie) & Candy B (Sista She) will delight in Brisbane while award-winning Zoe Coombs Marr will offer her bent-monologues in Sydney. New kid on the block Sabrina D'Angelo will preview body-poetry from her Fringe show We Are Happy, a comedy about North Korea in Melbourne & Sydney. Star-poets Emilie Zoey Baker & Sean M Whelan will perform in Melbourne, political comic-blogger Geoff Lemon (ABC Drum) & SPOD (DJ Set).
The Bedroom Philosopher Diaries was published by Affirm in January and features a collection of hilarious and melancholic tour tales that is Motley Crue meets Woody Allen. It's already received high praised from Neil Gaiman, whom BP met while supporting The Dresden Dolls in January.
"It was what all the great rock and roll touring books would have been like, if the people who wrote them had been honest to the point of embarrassment, had a clear, self-deprecating sense of humour and had real problems with veggieburgers and plastic razors. And instead of nonstop saturnalia of groupies and rock songs, there were attempted gigs on trams and occasional unimpressed girls who won't even kiss you." - Neil Gaiman.
