THE BASEMENT BLUES SOCIETY presents… the coming together of Sydney’s finest Blues musicians. This month’s BBS presents: A Night of Hot Blues, including: Genevieve Chadwick & The Stones Throw, The Blues Preachers, That Redhead, and Just Us.

What an amazing mix of Raw Pure Talent! Starting the night with Aim Graduates "Just Us" - who'll blow you away for their age. Onto current Hot ticket trio - THAT REDHEAD.

The show builds with the - Festival Circuit favorites' - THE BLUES PREACHERS - and ending the evening with Multi-Award Winning Songstress and her Mighty Band - GENEVIEVE CHADWICK and The STONES THROW. See Bios Below:

"GENEVIEVE CHADWICK and the STONES' THROW"

Imagine if Janis Joplin and John Lee Hooker had a baby together; musically, this girl would be the offspring of that union. She looks like an angel... roars like a lion... and plays guitar like a demon.

The husky & impressive Genevieve Chadwick touches the very soul of an audience with her original brand of blues & roots, exuding raw energy by the bucket load.

She has been described as "Raucous, untamed and exceptionally talented", "Australia's answer to Melissa Etheridge", likened to the great Janis Joplin, 'a female John Butler', but Genevieve is making her music, on her terms in her own unique way.

Featuring a full band of great local musicians on this tour, Gen has with her Jeremy Edwards on Guitar, Mick Malouf on Bass and Dave Fester on Drums.

Come take the musical journey with us.

THE BLUES PREACHERS

BP

The Blues Preachers will take you to another place and time, somewhere between 1920 and 1940. Their music paints a landscape of pre-war struggle and determination with sounds reminiscent of the Deep South. The Blues Preachers perform a fusion of good old blues, rags, gospel and hillbilly folk. The powerful simplicity of driving finger-style and slide-guitar combined with the sounds of tasteful harmonica and old-school vocal harmonies create a traditional and untarnished sound that will have you on the edge of your seats. The Blues Preachers will make you want to get up and dance with their joyful country and ragtime blues, and send a shiver down your spine with their atmospheric feels, echoing and paying homage to the sacred sounds of early artists such as Blind Willie Johnson. Their 2008 album 'Next Stop Beulah Land' and their highly regarded 2009 release 'Dry Long So' showcase the talents of the Preachers: Brother John on guitar, banjo and vocals, and Captain Bluetongue on harmonica, mountain dulcimer and vocals.

That REDHEAD (Trio)

Lozz Benson is a Sydney based musician, and a graduate of The Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Her true love though is The Blues and rock'n'roll.

A master at variety of different styles. She is in several bands in and around Sydney, as well as having performed all over Australia at events ranging from Sydney Festival through to supporting the legendary Paul Kelly on his National Tour.

Influenced by Johnny Winter, The White Stripes and The Stray Cats, Lozz writes songs with simple melodies and heavy riffs to get your head banging and your feet stamping!

Just Us

Recently formed, Just Us brings together four multi-talented young musicians from The McDonald College in North Strathfield. The band members are well versed in many genres, styles and instruments, they have a particular love of Blues and Soul. The band has quickly established itself as an act with the presence, technique and stagecraft that one would expect of far more seasoned performers. The difference being that their average age is fourteen! Not content with playing covers the band writes its own music bringing a mix of familiar and new to every performance.
