Teeth & Tongue GRIDS Tour 2014
What's in the water in Australia, koalas? Fosters? I don't know, but I know that they, year by year, produce a few rock stars that just defy labels. Teeth and Tongue fits that category. A sincere, rocking, earnest weirdo of the sort only Australia could create, her music's what Cat-Power-circa-now would make if she legitimately wanted to punch the world in the face." -Pop Candy, USA TODAY
Teeth & Tongue returns in 2014 with third album GRIDS, out now via Dot Dash / Remote Control.
"Every time I make an album I swear it's going to be a quick, easy, straightforward affair, but that doesn't ever seem to happen," says Jess Cornelius. " When I came back from the USA at the end of 2012, I had a bunch of new songs that I'd written for the tour, and somehow thedemos turned into the beginning of this new album, although it would take an entire year before we got close to finishing it".
That labour of love became GRIDS, released on March 21st and described by Stack Magazine as a 'modern pop masterwork'. It was quickly named Album of the Week by 3RRRfm, ABC Dig Music (now Double J), RTRfm and Beat Magazine, and awarded four stars by the HIT (Herald Sun) and The Music.
Now Teeth & Tongue brings her full band to the party, performing GRIDS in all its multi-layered glory. Featuring Marc Regueiro-Mckelvie (guitar and synth), Damian Sullivan (bass and synth), James Harvey (drums and vocals) and Jade McInally (vocals and percussion), the band's recent dance-heavy performances at Boogie Festival, White Night and a sold-out'Newborn' release party have established Teeth & Tongue as much more than a solo act.
With two USA tours (including SXSW and CMJ), Laneway Festival and Falls Festival, and performances with J Mascis, EMA and Vance Joy under her belt, Teeth & Tongue takes to the road again with an 8-date Australian tour to celebrate the release of GRIDS.
"From enchanting ballads to beat-heavy pop packages, this record is a captivating listen full of surprises." (Feature Album) ABC DIG Music
"(Grids) finds Cornelius in exquisite form, delivering dramatic vocals and gorgeous harmonies, zigzagging against moody synths, fuzzy guitar and purposeful throbs of electro beats." -MX Magazine
"The best Teeth & Tongue recording from Jess Cornelius... sounding assured, playful and ready to take on the world." (Album of the Week) -Beat Magazine
