Melbourne's Powerhouse prog/metal/rockers Sydonia have had a cracking start to their year - their album, Reality Kicks, released on February 7th through MGM Distribution has been going from strength to strength.
The CD/DVD combo sold out in JB Hi-Fi nationwide on the day of release, with a massive backlog of demand, the album was premiered exclusively on Kill Your Stereo, it made the top 100 Rock records released that week on iTunes (despite the massive INXS and Soundwave artist presence in the chart), Triple M's Distortion show's presenter Higgo loved it so much he made a video to review it (the first ever!) and it's made regular spins on triple j's The Racket and also AndrewHaugRadio. Add to that a tweet from Soundwave Festival promoter AJ Maddah saying that he would be pleased to have them on Soundwave 2015 and you could say that there has been universal praise from fans, industry and critics alike.
There has been one thing missing from the equation though. The Reality Kicks Album Release Tour - and now it's here.
An album with the scope of Reality Kicks needed a massive tour spanning the country and that's what Sydonia has delivered.
Sydonia will kick off the 12-dates-over-2 and a bit-months tour with a massive hometown Melbourne show at The Espy in the Gershwin Room, then follow up with shows all over Australia in Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Wollongong, Byron Bay, Gold Coast, Bendigo, Renmark and Bunbury.
Not only that, they will be bringing their very good friends HELM and Red Bee with them for the majority of the tour.
Main Support for the tour comes from the mighty HELM. HELM released their powerhouse third album 'Vol. III - Panthalassa' in 2013 and this year have also snared tour supports with Dead Letter Circus and comfortably owned the spot vacated by ex-Metallica bassist Jason Newsted's spot on Brisbane's Soundwave Festival.
Red Bee are also Soundwave 2014 alumni, taking the very same spot on the Sydney Soundwave Festival. A hectic live schedule, musical growth, comradery and focused ambition have all culminated in the delivery of their 2013 album 'Ictus.'
They will be having guest drummers join them on stage at all points on the tour for their all-percussion jam - 'Bateria.'
Sydonia have toured with some of the world's greatest rock and metal acts including Korn, Dead Letter Circus and Mammal and were personally invited to tour throughout Australia with Lamb of God after lead singer, Randy Blythe, heard their debut LP 'Given To Destroyers' playing in a record store. The band was also personally invited to open the US tour for Stone Sour and the Australian tours for Slipknot and Machine Head.
