SPOOKYLAND SIGN WITH US LABEL CANVASBACK, ANNOUNCE "ROCK AND ROLL WEAKLING" EP TOUR

"A trill reminiscent of The Tallest Man On Earth, The Smashing Pumpkins, Neil Young and Bob Dylan." - GOLDFLAKEPAINT

"If Bob Dylan liked Froot Loops and hung out in Sydney's burbs, he might have sounded a little like this."- FRANKIE MAGAZINE

After releasing the single, The Silly F***ing Thing that would land him international spotlight, Sydney's own Spookyland is pleased to release his highly anticipated 'Rock and Roll Weakling' EP, available now. With the EP added to 3RRR's 'Soundscape', 2SER and FBI rotation, and the kicker title track premiered by Triple J's Richard Kingsmill on 2014, Spookyland today announce a run of East Coast EP launch shows this September.

Spookyland has also become the first Australian act to sign with US label Canvasback, which was founded by rock'n'roll veteran Steve Ralbovsky (who previously signed The Strokes, Kings of Leon, Soundgarden, My Morning Jacket). Other artists currently on the Canvasback roster include Grouplove, Alt-J and The Orwells. The signing will see single "Rock and Roll Weakling" released in the US in early Sept on the Canvasclub imprint. Canvasback is a subsidiary of Atlantic Records.

The first track from the EP had an "utterly magnetizing vulnerability" heralded by Pitchfork, with the lead single has amassing almost 30,000 Soundcloud plays and radio play around the country. On top of this CHVRCHES' own Iain Cook lauded his "enviable confidence" in iconic music publication, NME.

The title track, Rock and Roll Weakling puts a harder twist on Spookyland's already signature sound of a bluesy banzai. A weave of blasting hooks and soft crevices, the track steals all possible attention, offering temperamental riffs and emotional roller coasters in return. It is equally intense and fragile, with lyrics to match the rawness of the melody providing an unexpected balance in which to rest.

'Rock and Roll Weakling' marks Spookyland's step into the spotlight - clad with his heart on sleeve.
