Event Details

The Speak Satellite Festival is an event that showcases forward thinking artists and is an initiative of the
Wollongong Conservatorium of Music to present new and diverse music in the Illawarra. Over three nights,
some of Australia's most progressive young musicians will congregate in Wollongong to share sounds and
ideas; to connect the past and possibility.

Head to Wollongong UniBar for an assortment of infectious beats and unmapped melodies, courtesy of
Wallace, Godriguez, Minus Marcus, Colourfields, Silver Talon, and YuTrio. DJ Jake Walker will keep the mood
buzzing.

Wallace

Future soul singer and songwriter Wallace Gollan's music is an exciting mosaic combination of blues, hip-hop
and soul. She possesses a sound others have labelled in the vein of Erykah Badu, Little Dragon or Carmen
McRae and Sarah Vaughan. What sets her apart is her truly unique voice and immense charisma. Wallace
applies her multi-award winning jazz trained licks and intonation to create a rich layer of distinct harmonies
causing heads to turn. Wallace is the type of artist that forces everyone in ear and eye shot to stop an pay
attention.

Godriguez

Godriguez first stepped onto the international hip-hop scene as the creative force behind Sampa The Great's
breakthrough release & 'The Great Mixtape'. His unique blend of jazz and avant-garde samples with a distinctly
raw production aesthetic push the boundaries of improvised music within a framework of hip hop, soul and
psychedelica. Since then Godriguez has continued to grow in stature as a solo artist and producer working on
remixes for Polographia and Winston Surfshirt and playing solo sets in support of Hiatus Kaiyote at Somerset
House in London, Black Milk and Koi Child.

Minus Marcus

Minus Marcus is a new 4-piece- sonic-juggernaut; journeying through rock, ambient, improvised and electronic
music styles. Throughout their dynamic live sets, MM flow freely between the shifting and washy textures of
ambient music; the driving, rhythmic pulse of house and techno; and live improvised interactions. Inspired by
the music of electronic producers and beat makers of today, MM build and swell through layers of samples
and live/improvised sounds over a 4-to- the floor beat. Minus Marcus is computer music, made by live humans.

Colourfields

Colourfields is a new astral child wildly assembled in deep space - a silvery capsule of songs, loops, skips and
sounds plunged dramatically to earth and sung out by warm fleshy bodies

Silver Talon

Silver Talon are a group of humans and electronic apparatus (controlled by humans) playing through-
composed original compositions exploring electronic and acoustic worlds via weaving and morphing loops.

YuTrio

Melding elements of Improvised music and Indie-Rock, the band performs original music which they recorded
and released earlier this year. Fans of Post-Rock groups such as Frames and Jaga Jazzist will find similarities in
Yutrio's music with the band also utilising its members' considerable improvisatory talents.
