Paris 1847. The extraordinary life of Marie Duplessis – courtesan, party girl, liar and legend - from desperate poverty to meteoric rise as the most notorious woman in France. Part vaudeville, part cabaret, part MTV-goes-Baroque, Songs for the Fallen is the wild and hilarious tale of a woman who knew one thing: good girls don’t make history.

Following hugely successful seasons in Sydney and Brisbane in 2013 that had critics and audiences raving, Songs for the Fallen has been invited to share their hilarious, self-aware, sophisticated yet debaucherous party with the world at the 2015 New York Music Theatre Festival (NYMF). They are sharing this adventure on the 7th July with a one-night-only, not to be missed fundraiser party - Songs for the Fallen: The Club Edition.

Written and performed by the award winning and formidable actor, singer, writer and comedienne, Sheridan Harbridge (National Cabaret Showcase Winner, Melbourne Green Room Nominee, Mike Walsh Recipient, The Daily Review's (Crikey) - 21 Hot Young Theatremakers of 2013) Songs for the Fallen "dares you to dispense of any inhibitions you might have and join her and the boys for a damned good time." - Arts Hub

"If there's a more intriguing performer currently working in Sydney cabaret and theatre than Sheridan Harbridge, I certainly don't know who it is." - Time Out

Part vaudeville, part punk opera, part MTV-does-Baroque show, Songs for the Fallen is the wild and unforgettable final birthday party of infamous French courtesan Marie Duplessis. With a lush live baroque-pop score, composed by Basil Hogios, AFI nominee (Romulus My Father) and APRA Screen Music nominee (The Killing Field), Marie drags you along the hilarious, loud adventure that made this woman a legend. The unbelievable tale that inspired The Lady of the Camellias, La Traviata and Moulin Rouge! Songs for the Fallen is an invitation to the decadent final party of the real-life woman who defied her fate, and captured a nation.

Songs for the Fallen: The Club Edition will be a thrilling masquerade-ball charting the life of Marie Duplessis', from poverty to infamy in burgeoning 19th century Paris. The tale of a woman who knew one thing: good girls don't make history.

With extra performers, bonus songs, a bigger band, Director, Shane Anthony (Matilda Best Production Nominee, Mike Walsh Recipient) will "transform the existing chaos and beauty of Songs into an interactive experience, a huge party for the audience."

Tickets to Songs for the Fallen: The Club Edition are available via Moshtix from 1st June. All proceeds will go to getting this 'little-show-that-could' to the NYMF so Songs for the Fallen can have their own success story alongside Pulitzer Prize winning Next to Normal and Shout! and bring their triumph of indie theatre to the world.

"Seeing Songs for the Fallen profile at NYMF will promote the work of Australian artists to future producers and investors overseas. The festival will showcase 5 performances of Songs for the Fallen and provide access to valuable networking opportunities to forge relationships with producers from international markets." - Shane Anthony, Director
