Illusive is proud to announce the debut Sydney show from US outfit Snarky Puppy here as part of the line-up for this years Melbourne Jazz Festival, also their first visit to Australia.

Snarky Puppy has gone from being an underground secret to one of the most internationally respected names in the instrumental music and touring circuit, having gained a reputation for putting on a live show unparalleled in energy, virtuosity and musicianship.

Bassist Michael League, who formed Snarky Puppy in 2004, has grown the band from a group of University of North Texas students into a powerhouse of musicians playing funk, soul, jazz and everything in between. Like the band's motto, the music is for your 'brain and booty'.

Snarky Puppy is somewhere between a garage band and a collective, with over 25 players in regular rotation. The core of the group, which remains consistent, features Grammy Award-Winners Robert "Sput" Searight on drums (God's Property, Snoop Dog) and Shaun Martin on keys (Kirk Franklin, Erykah Badu). Other members regularly play with the who's who of the world - from Chaka Khan, Beyonce, Timbaland, Patti Austin, Kenny Garret, Yo-Yo Ma, Justin Timberlake, Lucy Woodward and Bilal to name just a few.

Snarky Puppy's songs do not have the smooth flow and transition of most instrumental compositions.
