Richard Linklater's second film Slacker is often cited as the starting point of the independent film movement of the 90s. The film follows a day in the life of social outcasts in Austin, Texas. A cult classic for its abundance of characters and unconventional stream-of-consciousness storytelling, Slacker celebrates the apathetic and aimless youths of 90's American culture, so much so that it was inducted into the US National Film Registry for being 'historically and culturally important' in 2012. Fresh from winning the Golden Globes for Best Picture and Director for last year's Boyhood, this is arguably Linklater's first masterpiece and deserves viewing on a big screen.

97 minutes; English.

This film screens with short film Heile Gansje.
