Shorts & Sounds: A great night out celebrating the latest in Latino music, film and dance.

Presented by the 11th Sydney Latin American Film Festival, Shorts & Sounds is all about celebrating the diversity of Latin American culture. This year we're back with an amazing lineup of traditional and contemporary Latin influences in music, dance and film.

Music
With a performance especially created for this edition of Shorts and Sounds, Afro Uruguayan Project will take you out into the night, whipping up a storm of sound as traditional rhythms are mixed with sizzling Dancehall and Afro roots. TangoOz will be performing their first Australian show since finessing their skills under masters of the craft in Argentina.

Dance
Feisty Heidi LaTanguera & Alvaro Gonzalez will be taking the stage to a sensuous and imaginative take on the traditional tango.

Film
Enjoy a screening of some of the top short films selected by the Sydney Latin American Film Festival and various international partners.

Started in 2006, the Sydney Latin American Film Festival (SLAFF) is about to host its 11th annual event, 8-12 September 2016.

SLAFF is a non-profit organisation. Proceeds from the Festival are donated to community development, social justice and environmental projects in Latin America and Australia. Over the past 11 years, our Community Support Program has raised more than $116,000. This is made possible through numerous volunteers, supporters, collaborators and sponsors - who share our passion for promoting Latin American cinema and culture.

Even in a multicultural city like Sydney, stereotypes abound about being a Latino or a Latina. Through our deeply considered selection of feature films, documentaries and shorts - the festival takes on the responsibility for presenting the diverse stories, cultures and voices coming from the vast Latin American region.
