New Japanese guitar sensation Shohei Yamaki is still only 23 years old, but is already being compared to the likes of legendary players like Chet Atkins, Leo Kottke and the late Michael Hedges. His virtuosity puts him in stellar company indeed, with a big future assured. We're very pleased to be able to present Sho in his debut (and exclusive) Sydney appearance, one of only two gigs he'll be playing in Australia in 2013.

Born in Sapporo, Japan in 1989, Shohei grew up listening to the great rock and jazz guitar masters of the second half of the 20th century. Early on in his life, he became deeply enmeshed in the wealth of guitar tones and styles that emerged out of America and Europe and began studying the guitar as if it was his only calling. By the time he reached his twentieth birthday, he could emulate practically any guitar sound and style that existed in the world.

In 2010, Shohei was the unanimous Judges choice for First Prize at the Sapporo International Jazz Festival. He competed with over 200 entrants and surprised everyone, including himself, by taking first place. Since then, he's released 2 albums and toured Canada, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Shohei has a complete command of all styles of acoustic playing. Not to be missed!
