Shindig 2012 Boat Party - Swinging Sixties London
2012 THEME: SWINGING SIXTIES LONDON
Welcome to the SS Shindig London - a sturdy old lady that has fallen into the wrong hands...
A motley crew of people who put living before a living - the spivs of Spitalfields, wide boys of Wapping, seductresses of Soho and those who's world ends where the Kings Road ends - have "borrowed" the boat for a private shindig, and anchored her smack bang in the middle of the Thames.
Aboard the boat it's another world entirely - a world of flares, sharp suits, chequered spats and go go boots - groupies, hippies, dolly girls and mods. Where Mayfair meets Old Kent Road and Alfie met Arabella - purple hearts melded together, floating on the water in the heart of the city that swings. It Girls, Oomph Girls, "Who's for tennis?" girls, mingle with kaftan slinkers from Gay Arabia, and boa bedecked hoydens from the lids of ancient chocolate boxes!
It's a super charade of happy happenings in a crazy haze of pulsating beats and sounds..... ALL ABOARD!
SS Shindig London, Summer 1967.
featuring the Disk Jockeys....
and URBY + JOHHNY DARKO (Propaganda)
On the main galley the eight-tracks and gramophones will be manned by a ragtail collective of sawdust Ceasars spinning futuristic nu-disco, house and tech - Christian Stevens, Mark Galpin, "Deadly" Dave Rogers and Jim Smith.
Meanwhile outside the ship's promenade deck will give way to music of the era and timeless UK Indie classics - under the control of DJs Urby and Johnny Darko who represent the indie juggerrnaut Propaganda, Britpop and Mods & Rockers clans. The Propaganda boys have been known to throw a party or two in their time! Expect some bootshaking gems.
