(SANDY) ALEX G ANNOUNCES DEBUT MELBOURNE & SYDNEY SHOWS FOR FEBRUARY 2018

WITH SPECIAL GUEST BRIGHTNESS

Frontier Touring and I OH YOU are thrilled to announce that Philadelphia lo-fi mastermind (Sandy) Alex G will visit our shores for two special headline shows at Melbourne's Howler and Sydney's The Lansdowne this February.

In his first venture Down Under, (Sandy) Alex G (aka Alex Giannascoli) will showcase his prolific recording career as part of the Laneway Festival '18 line-up before treating Australia's East Coast to a pair of mesmerising headline performances.

'As a live performer, the audience was still able to gain a personal experience with a more intense approach, slightly contrasting the sensitivity and intimate nature of his recorded material.' - Open Ears

Following the critical acclaim of his sixth album DSU- featured as Best Album of 2014 by Vogue, Consequence of Sound, and Noisey- and collaboration on Frank Ocean's Blonde and Endless, Giannascoli finds his most diverse yet cohesive self on his eighth full-length record Rocket, released this May.

The album, produced by Jacob Portrait (Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Bass Drum of Death) is a musical odyssey that translates to a visceral live experience, highlighted in tracks like 'Witch' and 'Bobby'.

'He offers salvation in a distant fiddle, a twanging guitar, and the voice of an old friend.' - Pitchfork (Best New Track, 'Bobby')

'"Bobby" demonstrates G's ability to leap across genres, with country-western tones aplenty' - The Line Of Best Fit

'It's difficult to make a fiddle sound innovative in 2017, but here comes Philadelphia multi-instrumentalist Alex G with an Americana-caked love song befitting of both a dusty front porch and the night bus.' - The Guardian

Joining (Sandy) Alex G for both headline shows will be special guest Brightness. Brightness is Alex Knight, a fifth-generation Australian who grew up in Lake Macquarie, a few hours north of Sydney. Our first introduction to this talented artist came in the form of debut album Teething (out now via I OH YOU), an unusually intimate and personal series of songs that is both expansive and intimate at the same time.

This may be your only chance to see (Sandy) Alex G in such intimate venues - don't miss the chance to see this exciting up-and-coming artist in his debut Australian visit this February.
